THE ALWAR CHAIR

Madras in form, modern in feel.

Named after Alwarpet, one of old Madras’s most graceful neighborhoods, the Alwar Chair reflects the area’s character — timeless, elegant, and quietly refined. It brings together South Indian craftsmanship and modern Scandinavian simplicity, merging tradition with restraint.

Design Story

Every Alwar Chair is shaped from solid teak, polished by hand to reveal its natural grain and depth. Its proportions are refined through multiple hand-drawn iterations to achieve perfect balance between comfort and silhouette. The seat and backrest are upholstered in natural ivory linen, stitched by artisans to maintain a crisp, timeless character. Each curve and junction is finished with hand-sanded smoothness, ensuring that the chair feels as good to touch as it looks.

Concept

The Alwar Chair embodies calm modern heritage — honest materials, natural tones, and balanced geometry. Its design is light yet grounded; minimal yet warm. It’s crafted for those who appreciate the quiet charm of classic teak furniture — reinterpreted for today’s interiors. The open arms, floating seat, and matte wood tone allow the chair to breathe in any setting — blending effortlessly with both contemporary and traditional spaces.
